It is very rare for a wine to become “corked”.
This is not the fault of either the winemakers or the corker manufacturers, as it is caused by micro-organisms living in the cork rind. Trichloroanisole (TCA) bacteria, fungi, live in cork oak trees and are introduced into the corks during the cork stopper production process, thus contaminating the wines.
If you find such an item, don’t worry – we’ll send you a new, flawless item free of charge.
How can you make sure the wine is “corked”?
After opening the bottle you may smell unpleasant, like damp cardboard or a musty/mouldy room; after tasting, you will also smell unpleasant – similar to the previous ones.
If you come across such an item:
- the most important thing is not to use this item for anything
- please seal the faulty bottle and return it by post to our central warehouse
Please note that in the case of corked wine, a maximum of 0.5 dl can be missing from the bottle and you will have to take care of the return (packaging, return postage).
We will notify you by email when the faulty product is returned and let you know when to expect the new item.
